2 Steph's Congo Squares

My college roommate Steph, introduced me to these thick, dense, chocolate chip bars.

I hadn't made them in years....

until a good neighbor of mine bequeathed to me a set of her Pampered Chef stoneware.


This 9x13 stoneware pan was the perfect pan for these cookies...

You will be tempted to dive into these cookies straight out of the oven, but they will crumble and fall apart ~


It's best to wait.


Patiently.

When they are cool, they will become these totally addictive, chewy bars that will leave an impression on you for years....


or until the next time you bake 'em...

  1. I used to have one of those Pampered Chef stoneware pans until like a dummie, I ran cold water into it right after taking it out of the oven. Split the sucker right in half :(

    Those congo squares look delicious!

  2. My recipe's almost identical, but we sift powdered sugar over the top while the pan is cooling. Different look, same luscious flavor!
