28 IKEA Love & A Cool Kitchen Tool Giveaway!

I have to admit, before IKEA came to my town, I couldn't understand what all the hoopla was about.  My friends and neighbors were traveling over 600 miles to visit this store in another state.

Now I understand why.

At first glance, you may take a look at their simplified, ready to assemble, modernist style furniture and think to yourself, "That is not my style."

But IKEA is more than just furniture.   Take a closer look and you will appreciate the ingenuity behind their designs.  Space-saving organization comes to mind when I think of IKEA.

Eco-friendly is something else that should come to your mind as well.  IKEA has a goal of running their company on 100% renewable energy, with a wind farm in Sweden and using solar power in the Draper, Utah location, the first of its stores to do so.

IKEA has rolled out their NEW 2013 catalog and is worth taking a look!

The Marketplace is where I love to shop at IKEA.  Here are some of my favorite finds!

  14. Frieda, I am (used to be)an absolute IKEA addict. Their furniture, the kitchen items, outdoor stuff..... I even called them to get a heads up on when we would finally have an IKEA here in Denver. I used to bring IKEA things back from Germany with me. However, I just watched a consumer report documentary on IKEA provided through a German TV station. It showed how IKEA actually doesn't care that much about their resources. They use wood that is illegally harvested in Siberia or metal brackets that are made through forced prison labor. Don't understand me wrong, I am still a shopper at IKEA, but it made me think on how/at what cost they could offer the cheap prices they do.

    1. Thanks for the info...I don't believe everything I hear/read unless I research it or see for myself. The info you have is definitely worth investigating and finding out more to see if it is accurate. Thanks!

  19. I love many things in IKEA, but one of my favorites is the dishtowel called TEKLA. It's a white dish towel with a red stripe down each side. They cost around 79 cents a piece, and they are the BEST cotton dishtowels ever! It looks like the weave is not very tight when they are new, but you wash & dry them in the dryer and it tightens right up! This cloth has a loop at the top that can be hooked on a cupboard knob or your apron. You can wash them with bleach and the red stripe never fades! I've washed them over & over with Clorox bleach, and they look like new! I just love them! I have never seen the magnetic trivet before, and would love to win it!

I LOVE Ikea! I love the restaurant, being able to grab something to eat when you have a toddler in tow is awesome. I don't have to hurry up and finish shopping, I just park the cart we get in line then eat and it's back to more shopping! I also love that they have affordable children's furniture, toys, etc. Kid stuff can get expensive so it's nice that I can shop at Ikea without spending an arm & a leg.

  21. I love their prices and the wide range of products they offer. I could spend a few hours just walking slowly through all the rooms and sections to browse what they have. I love their 99cents dish scrubbers. They come in fun colors and are very affordable. I also love to walk through the section with all the wood, it smells so good! I always stop by the "Last Chance" section as well.
