8 Giant Skookies!

In sixth grade, we were allowed to bring a treat for the class on our birthday.  Back in that day, we could bring homemade treats.

I asked my mom if we could bring my favorite soft sugar cookies.

Then I asked her if they could be GIANT sized sugar cookies.  I remember watching my mom use a large 5" round can to cut out the sugar cookies.

If you wanna impress a kid, make a ginormous cookie.

I had some boys over for pizza.  While they were making and eating their pizzas, I decided to to try out this Skookie kit that I got as a white elephant Christmas gift.

These are 6 1/2" pre-seasoned cast iron skillets that you can use for cookies or brownies.

All you need is 1/4 cup of Chocolate Chip cookie dough...

and spread it into a greased skillet.  I didn't quite spread it out to the edges, as I expected the dough  to spread slightly.

There were four boys and only 2 skillets.  It wouldn't be fair to make the other two boys wait, would it?

I wondered if it would work on a baking sheet....

I rolled up the 1/4 cup of dough into a ball and smooshed it down...

These cookies were baked at 375ºF for about 15 minutes; till the tops were dry and golden brown.

I had a hard time getting the cookie out of the skillet.  It probably wasn't greased well enough...

But the baking sheet cookie?

Turned out perfect!

It is the same size as the skillet cookie ~ 6 1/2"

I got several WOW's from the boys...."I thought you were making pancakes!" one of them said.

The verdict?  I wouldn't use these skillets to make these cookies.  The baking sheet method worked out just great.  Perhaps if I made brownies for two....

A giant cookie.

The way to a kid's heart.

  3. Oh, we LOVE our skookie skillet! We eat it right from the skillet, so it doesn't matter if it doesn't come out of the pan easily. It is a must to be topped with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce and chocolate syrup!

  5. Wow, the biggest cookie I have ever seen! If I eat this by myself, I can skip all my three meals for two days! Oh yes, the kids will not mind the size, the bigger the better.

  6. Oooh yummy! I used to go to a restaurant that served these, you had to order them at the beginning of your meal because they made them fresh. They served them right in the skillet with ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles. So good!

  8. Mmmmmm! Now that's my kind of cookie! :) The bigger the better. I always wondered if those skillet cookies worked or not. Sounds like it's safer to stick to the traditional method. I'm jealous of those boys! They had quite the treats at your house!
