A lady overheard someone mention that her kids call pineapple chunks "Sponge Bob" fruit. Cute ~ My hubby calls these Crabby Patties ~
I was gifted with some imitation crab meat and decided to try a recipe I saw on a local news station.
It came together easily...
Bread and saltine cracker crumbs
mayonnaise,
green onion, thinly sliced
an egg seasoned with Old Bay spices,
Tabasco, and white pepper.
These ingredients are mixed together with one pound of crab meat.
Well, I had imitation crab meat. Let's see if that makes a difference.
The ingredients were forced into a patty and pan fried in a non-stick skillet.
No grease. No deep frying.
The verdict?
Very flavorful. Tasty. Yet they were hard to form a patty. Either I need to chop up the crab more finely, or use real crab meat. I'll have to make these with the real deal next time.

Yum I think I might give these a try.
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd never eaten imitation crab before until I realized MOST of the California rolls I'd grabbed for lunch in NYC were fakes:) Ha ha! These look great but I think I'm with you - I'd do it with the real deal. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYup, SpongeBob is permanently ingrained in our culture now. Which is fine with me...love that guy ;) And love your crabby patties...my spatula would, too!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm especially appreciative of this recipe because I can't have real crab (allergies) but I can have the imitation stuff. Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big crab fan but these look yummy! We have a lot of spongebob references too...my kids call hamburgers crabby patties.
