4 Candy Cane Valentine Hearts

If you see any of these boxes of miniature candy canes on clearance, snap them up!  Why?  You can make these darling hearts for Valentine's Day!
I found this lonely box in a clearance grocery cart.  What a steal!

But I can't take credit for this cute idea.  I saw the idea on Skip to My Lou, who turned these into candy cane heart shaped suckers....

It is incredibly easy...unwrap all the candy canes and arrange them into hearts on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Bake at 300 degrees for about 5 minutes.  Watch closely, so they don't melt too much...when cool enough to handle, pinch the ends together.
Don't forget the middle...but be careful!  It may be hot!  Have a bowl of cold water handy...
Let them cool completely on the baking sheet before removing.

I felt like a cup of hot chocolate this cold morning.  Will this sink or float?  You'll have to find out for yourself and see!

  1. I have seen these before, and forgot about them. Thanks for the reminder! I have some extra candy canes left over from Christmas.

It seems like the ones I saw before had you spoon melted white chocolate inside the candy cane heart and let it set up. Then you peel them off of the parchment paper. The white chocolate/candy canes would also be a tasty addition to the mug of hot cocoa...don't ya think?! :)

  2. Cindi, I LOVE that white chocolate idea! It would look beautiful, hold the heart together better, and be oh, so good! Thanks for another great idea!

  3. What a cute, cute idea! Great for these cold days we've been having lately. A big storm is supposed to be arriving any minute...it's cold, but we haven't seen any snow yet!

  4. I saw a ba-zillion of those that they were practically giving away last week. Now I wish I could go back and snatch them up - but they're gone! Fun, fun idea... too cute! They would be a great idea for the grandkids... Thanks!
